DSPT Professor Fr. Michael Dodds, OP assists DSPT studentThe Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT) faculty members reflect the School's strong commitment to scholarship.They combine academic expertise in their fields, with a genuine interest in the insights, needs and creative work of their students. Teaching is of central importance. Classes are small, and faculty members are easily accessible.

Philosophy Department faculty are active in both classical, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophy, offering courses in the thought of Plato, Aristotle, and Thomas Aquinas as well as Kant, Heidegger, Ricoeur, Gadamer and others.

Theology Department faculty teach classes in Scripture, church history, moral theology, Islamic studies, spirituality, and religion and the arts.

Graduate Theological Union (GTU) Faculty

DSPT students also have the opportunity to take advantage of the faculty and resources of all of the GTU member schools and affiliates. The GTU has a faculty of over 150 scholars in various fields and disciplines that offer over 750 classes. You can browse a full list of the GTU faculty external link on the GTU's website.

University of California, Berkeley Faculty

Without additional tuition fees, DSPT graduate students may also take classes at the University of California, Berkeley external link. UC Berkeley's academic departments consistently rank among the top in the country. The UC Berkeley faculty includes seven Nobel Laureates and over 25 MacArthur Fellows.

Angelicum Faculty

Theology students at DSPT have the opportunity to study at the Angelicum external link, also known as the Dominican Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, in the center of Rome.
