CONCURRENT MASTER OF DIVINITY / MA (THEOLOGY) DEGREES
The M.Div. and the M.A. (Theology) programs available through DSPT each has its own rationale and integrity. It is possible, however, for students enrolled in the M.Div. program to enroll concurrently in any of the M.A. programs in theology: GTU Common MA; DSPT M.A. (Theology) Comprehensive Emphasis; or DSPT M.A. (Theology) Research Emphasis. In this combination, the two programs are viewed as complementing each other.
Students wishing to enroll in the two programs concurrently normally begin their studies in the M.Div. program and apply to the M.A. program during the fourth semester of their M.Div. studies. Once accepted into the second program, they will need to consult carefully with their advisors to plan their studies in a way that will allow them to fulfill the requirements that are central to each program: the specific courses that are integral to the M.Div. program and the distribution and specialization requirements which are central to the M.A. programs.
In no case can the two degrees be completed in less than four years (eight semesters). The minimum total units required for both degrees taken concurrently is 105: 81 required for the M.Div. and 24 additional for the M.A.
