Cultural and Historical Studies
This field of theological and philosophical exploration concentrates on the cross-cultural and historical development of religions. Through investigating a particular religious tradition, students will learn about the spiritual, ethical, and intellectual teachings of world religions. In addition, they will begin to reflect comparatively about the ways these multiple perspectives have shaped human culture. In keeping with the vision of St. Thomas Aquinas, whose work engaged ideas of non-Christian thinkers, this area will examine intersections among philosophical and religious thought, especially Islam.
