TUITION, FEES AND OTHER EXPENSES
Tuition and other student fees are due and payable ten days after the beginning
of classes each term. Students with outstanding financial obligations to DSPT
or any GTU affiliate may not register for classes, graduate, or obtain transcripts.
PAYING TUITION
Tuition for 2008-2009. The following costs refer to all courses,
whether taken for credit or audit:
B.A., M.Div. and Special students are charged $550 per unit.
Thus, the semester tuition for students taking 12 units is $6,600.
M.A. students in theology are charged $550 per unit. Those,
however, who have already paid tuition equivalent to the forty-eight units required
in the program are considered continuing students and pay $3,300 for each additional
semester they spend in the program regardless of the number of units they take.
GTU Common MA students are charged $6,855 per semester for the first 2 years. After two years students are charged $3,430 per semester.
M.A. students in philosophy are charged $550 per unit. Those,
however, who have already paid tuition equivalent to the thirty units required
in the program are considered continuing students and pay $3,300 for each additional
semester they spend in the program regardless of the number of units they take.
Certificate of Theological Studies students are charged $550
per unit.
Students in summer programs are charged the current summer school fees as indicated
in the summer school bulletin and brochures. If a student enrolls concurrently
in more than one degree program, any additional fees charged by the Graduate
Theological Union or any other school will be billed directly to the student
in addition to the above expenses.
All students in programs, as well as Special Students and Certificate of Theological
Studies students, may take one audit per semester free of charge if they have
enrolled for 12 units for that semester. 12 units taken in the fall semester
may allow a free audit course that semester. 12 units
taken in the spring semester may allow a free audit course only in that semester.
Free audits cannot be accumulated, nor may they be taken outside of the semester
in which the free audit had been granted.

EXPECTED ACADEMIC YEAR EXPENSES
Below is a list of projected personal costs of attendance. Our Financial Aid program uses this budget for both federal loans and for scholarship and grant-in-aid awards. Expenses that can be considered include tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, medical and dental expenses, and personal expenses related to nine of months attendance at DSPT. Please note that consumer debt (e.g. credit cards), car payments, charitable gifts, legal fees, life insurance, etc. are not considered allowable expenses. These figures are based upon a budget for a single student; married students or students with dependents should add $2500 for each dependent.
