Why Giving Matters
Why Giving MattersPlease allow me to introduce you to two of our graduates who, after discerning their call, were directly helped by donations from our supporters.
Fr. Justin Gable, OP graduated in May and was ordained a priest on May 31. He entered the Order with a PhD in philosophy and came to DSPT to continue his studies in theology and philosophy and to receive his formation for the priesthood. While still a student at DSPT, Fr. Justin participated in academic symposia, taught several classes for us, spent a year at Holy Family Cathedral parish in Anchorage, Alaska, and recently presented a Lenten reflection on our campus focused on sainthood. We are blessed with a unique opportunity to directly engage Fr. Justin so soon after his graduation and ordination. He will join our regular faculty in September, offering two courses in philosophy.
Another of our graduates is Mac Lingo. Mac came to us to study ancient philosophy. From a Jewish background, Mac was introduced to the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas and, after a conversion first of mind and then of heart, was baptized and confirmed two years ago. This summer he completed his thesis in our concurrent program for Masters degrees in both philosophy and theology. In August, Mac took up his new post as Director of Adult Faith Formation at St. Joan of Arc Parish in San Ramon, California, where he hopes to use his training to immediately impact the individuals, families and community he is serving.
We keep all of our supporters in our prayers as we give thanks for the opportunity that is made possible for us to form the wonderful young men and women who are our students.
Fr. Michael Sweeney, OP, President
