Tuition and Financial Aid

How to Apply for Financial Aid

The Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT) has a limited amount of scholarship funds available to assist students with their financial needs. For information about scholarship and grant funds, click here. Those interested in applying for these funds should complete the Scholarship Grant Application PDF and submit it to the Admissions Office by March 15 (for Fall applicants) or November 1 (for Spring applicants). Those applying for scholarships and grants must also complete their Application for Admission by those deadlines in order to receive full consideration.

The following must be sent to the DSPT Admissions Office:

  • The original copy of the completed Scholarship and Grant-in-aid application

  • A copy of your most recent Federal Income Tax Return (if applicable)

Those also applying for Federal financial aid (Federal loans, etc.) must visit the GTU Financial Aid website and follow the instructions for that portion of the process.  Applications for Federal financial aid are sent to the GTU Financial Aid Office.

DSPT Scholarships and Grants-in-Aid are distributed according to the following criteria:

  • Students must be enrolled in a MA, MDiv, or MTS program.  DSPT scholarships and grants-in-aid are not available in the Certificate of Theological Studies program or to Special Students.

  • Students who have met the tuition residency requirement and are "in continuation" status are not eligible for DSPT scholarships or grants-in-aid.

  • Students must be enrolled in at least 9 units each semester to be eligible.

  • Awards are based upon full-time enrollment (12 units) and will be dispersed proportionately depending on the amount of the award. For example, a student who receives a 25% tuition scholarship or grant-in-aid and takes 9 units will receive an award equal to 25% of the 9-unit tuition rate.
