NEW PROGRAMS

The Interfaith Coalition for Human Rights will be sponsoring events in the Fall of 2009 and Spring 2010. The first event will be the celebration of the International Peace Day

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE, 2009

DESCRIPTION: This event is an awareness-raising symposium and motivational celebration of the United Nations International Peace Day. Assemble the East Bay’s general public at the Dominican School in Berkeley. Featuring speakers, diverse panel presentations, music and involvement of participants.

GOALS:

  1. Promote Peace, Human Aspiration for Peace, Culture and Ethic of Peace
  2. Reaffirm the importance of the UN’s Charter, shared visions and the common agenda to attain peace
  3. Raise awareness about conditions conducive to achieve peace at global, national, community levels
  4. Educate and inspire about the roles and potential of the United Nations, the faith/interfaith community, government, and civil society
  5. Facilitate opportunities for individual and collaborative activities to secure and sustain non-violence and peace – including individual actions, advocacy and petitioning
