Support DSPTWishing You a Blessed Advent!

As the Advent season comes to an end this coming week, I am inspired to consider these last four months I have spent at DSPT and the year that has passed by so quickly. First, on behalf of the faculty and students, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all of the School's benefactors who have contributed time, financial support, advice, and in-kind gifts this past year. At a time when we are seeing growing enrollment and greater interest in DSPT, your support has made a very significant impact on our ability to provide services to the students and faculty, financial aid for students, and this support also allows us to offer lectures and other presentations to the public that help to maintain a dialogue with our community and to increase awareness of our school and its mission.

We have so many ambitions yet we are limited by financial resources to pay for our many growing needs: money to maintain our basic infrastructure and facilities; replacement computers and other technology to better share our offerings to the public, more staff to support our endeavors, and a growing need to increase financial aid packages to students and support our student work programs that provide opportunities for our students to earn money to help with their living expenses.

In these last four months, we welcomed the Papal Theologian, listened to talks from our Fellows related to work and vocations, and offered presentations from students and faculty on a myriad of topics. One of the talks I have read (though it was presented at DSPT on a recent Saturday morning), is Father Michael Dodds' Advent reflection on the Beatitudes and Acedia. I strongly encourage you to read it and share it with your friends, especially those individuals who perhaps in recent times may have begun to resemble the fictional characters of Dr. Seuss's Grinch or perhaps even Mr. Dickens' Scrooge.

I won't remind you of how many shopping days are left this year, but there are still a number of days left in the tax year in case you are inspired to make a gift (or perhaps an additional gift) to support the School. In any event, please accept my sincerest wishes for a blessed Christmas and New Year's celebration ahead and thank you for your generous support!
