Ibn 'Arabi & Rumi Conference: “Being Fully Human” Opening Presentation by Professor William Chittick

Friday evening May 3 - Saturday May 4 

A conference co-sponsored by Center for Islamic Studies and the Ibn ‘Arabi Society to explore and discuss the writings of Muhyiddin Ibn 'Arabi (1165-1240) and Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-1273). Various speakers from international academic centers offered presentations. The keynote address was presented by Professor William Chittick.
 
Theological Study Workshop - Professor Carl Ernst, “Understanding the Qur’an”

Sponsored by the Center for Islamic Studies, DSPT and Zaytuna College this workshop was conducted by Carl Ernst, former department chair of Religious Studies at UNC, Chapel Hill, in conversation with several notable scholars: Dr. Mahmoud Ayoub, Todd Lawson, Zaid Shakir, and Nargis Virani. His keynote speech addressed the theological implications of bracketing faith in the academic study of the Qur'an.
