Rev. Michael Augustine Amabisco, OP
God is a mystery, a wonderful mystery. It is this mystery that has filled my life and led me to where I am today. Back when I was beginning college in Southern California and preparing for my life's career, I had no idea that one day I would be a Dominican and preparing to be ordained a priest. Only the mystery that is God could account for such events.
As I approach ordination, I find myself filled with excitement and awe in what the future might hold and to given the opportunity to share the wondrous mystery with the world. I will return to Southern California after being away for over fifteen years to serve the Catholic community at the University of California, Riverside. As I prepare for ordination, I find myself thankful for the many blessing in my life, my vocation, the Dominican community, my new assignment and the other numerous blessings that have brought me to this point. I am especially thankful to the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT) for providing the education and training that I will utilize in my priestly vocation. The DSPT was an environment that promoted my intellectual and academic pursuits in the tradition of St. Thomas Aquinas, as well as being a place for spiritual development. The education and experiences I received at the DSPT have prepared me well for the life in mystery that lies ahead.
