General Description. Unless otherwise noted, all course offerings are 3 units, and may be used to fulfill requirements in any DSPT program. Students from other GTU schools who wish to use these courses for program requirements must receive approval from their own academic dean. Under certain circumstances, courses may also be used for S.T.L. credit.

Courses are offered Monday through Friday at the indicated times and days.

Class Locations

All courses are held in the Classroom building on the DSPT campus.

Who Can Enroll?

Courses are taught at the graduate academic level; persons who take courses for academic credit are expected to have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent.

Typically, our student body consists of clergy, members of religious orders, active lay persons, seminary students (both from GTU schools and other seminaries), graduate students at other institutions, persons considering attending the DSPT, artists, teachers, and business professionals.

Transferring Credit

The receiving institution always determines whether or not to accept transfer credit. All courses are fully accredited for any program at the DSPT - please check with your registrar and/or academic advisor, prior to enrolling, as to the applicability of Summer Session courses to your particular degree program, and area of study.

Enrollments are accepted up to June 2nd.  Late enrollment is possible, but not guaranteed and late registration fees apply. Applicants will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  Check with the admissions office: admissions@dspt.edu.

We encourage you to enroll early. Courses may reach capacity by early May.

Program Changes

We reserve the right to change course descriptions, instructors, dates and hours of instruction, meeting places, and prices. In the event of a conflict between printed material and information on this web site, the information on this web site takes precedence.

The Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology reserves the right to cancel classes for insufficient enrollment.

Course / Grading Policies

CEU students must be present in class to receive CEU credit hours. Students who enroll for audit are expected to participate in class meetings. No permanent record is kept of attendance or course completion for auditors.

Changes to Enrollment Status

Students may make a change to enrollment status - drop a course, change grading option, or change credit type  - with the approval of the instructor.  Changes to enrollment must be completed prior to the end of the first week of the course.  A $25 fee applies.  There is no refund of tuition for enrollment changes made after June 2nd.  There is no tuition credit for changes from academic credit to CEU or audit, or from CEU credit to audit.  Contact the Registrar at 510-883-2068 or tolson@dspt.edu for more information.

Housing

Contact John Knutsen (Dir. of Admissions) 510-883-2083, or admissions@dspt.edu for more information.

Refund Policy

The refund policy is slightly different for each classification of student.  Please refer to the registration information to find the refund policy for your particular classification.
