The Alemany Awards Benefit Gala is the principal annual fundraising event of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT), a member school of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU). Each year at this special event we honor men and women for their lives of Christian service with the Archbishop Alemany Award while raising money to support DSPT and our mission to prepare men and women for their own vocations by giving them a rigorous philosophical and theological education. See a list of past Alemany Awardees.

The Alemany Award is named after San Francisco’s first Archbishop – Joseph Sadoc Alemany, a Spanish Dominican missionary whose life and work had a tremendous impact on the Church and society. Among many other notable works, Alemany helped to found the Western Dominican Province, of which DSPT is an apostolate.

At DSPT our classrooms are filled with Dominicans and religious from other orders as well as lay men and women. The education we provide fundamentally integrates philosophy and theology so that our students will be equipped to bring the Good News to the culture today. This is what Dominican education is all about: advancing the tradition by engaging contemporary scholarship and culture in mutual enrichment.

Join us for an elegant and fun evening in support of Dominican education. You will meet a number of our faculty, students, staff, and fellow benefactors who make up the DSPT community.
