Please join us in honoring Sr. Diane Aruda, OP, President of Immaculate Conception Academy in San Francisco and Alessandro Baccari, a writer and historian from North Beach, the Italian District of San Francisco. We will celebrate Mass and enjoy an elegant dinner together while we present them with the Archbishop Alemany Award.
The Alemany Award is named after San Francisco’s first Archbishop – Joseph Sadoc Alemany, a Spanish Dominican missionary whose life and work had a tremendous impact on the Church and society. Among many other notable works, Alemany helped to found the Western Dominican Province of which DSPT is an apostolate.
At DSPT our classrooms are filled with Dominicans and religious from other orders as well as lay men and women. The education we provide fundamentally integrates philosophy and theology so that our students will be equipped to bring the Good News to the culture today. This is what Dominican education is all about.
The Alemany Awards Benefit Gala is our principal annual fundraising event, but it is more than that; it is truly a celebration of the School. It is an opportunity to meet a number of our faculty, students and benefactors who make up the whole DSPT community. Each year at this special event we honor men and women who have contributed significantly to the life of the Church with the Archbishop Alemany Award.
Mass in the Cathedral at 5:30
