2017 Dominican Colloquium in Berkeley

Person, Soul and Consciousness: Philosophical and Theological Perspectives on the Human Person

This colloquium, part of an ongoing triennial series on the intersection between philosophy and theology, seeks to continue the venerable Dominican tradition of bringing together philosophers and theologians to explore questions of contemporary importance.  This colloquium’s particular theme is the human person in his or her full intellectual, spiritual, and embodied existence:  How do philosophical insights into the human person illumine topics within theology, and how do recent developments in theology present challenges or opportunities for philosophical research into consciousness, person, and the soul?

Plenary session presenters include Thomas Hünefeldt (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany), Nancey Murphy (Fuller Theological Seminary), David Oderberg (University of Reading, UK), Markus Rothhaar (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany), Eleonore Stump (St. Louis University), and Thomas Weinandy, OFM.Cap. (Gregorian University, Rome, and Dominican House of Studies, Washington, D.C.).
